Who they are
Prebuilt is a Melbourne modular builder founded in 2003 by Rob and Christiana Colquhoun, with a factory at Kilsyth and a second in New South Wales. It builds homes and commercial buildings and is licensed in Victoria, NSW, South Australia and Tasmania. It does not list Queensland.
What they make
Volumetric modular homes on a steel base frame, craned onto footings or screw piles. The pre-designed range is four single-level 3 to 4 bedroom homes, Breeze, Mod, Habitat and Eve, from 119 m², plus custom and double-storey homes.
What the price covers
Pre-designed homes run from $627,000 to $703,000. Transport within 100 km of Kilsyth is included for an easy site; the crane at about $12,000 to $25,000, heating and cooling, and site works are extra.
Installing one in Queensland
Prebuilt does not build in Queensland: it holds no QBCC licence and lists Victoria, NSW and South Australia as its service area. A Queensland home would need a QBCC-licensed builder to contract the work and provide home warranty cover.
Who it suits
Buyers of a full-size family home in Victoria, NSW or South Australia.
Worth checking
Not available for SE Queensland blocks, and there is no granny flat-sized home in the range.
