Who they are
Met-Kit Homes supplies steel-frame kit homes for owner builders and is the budget range of Paal Kit Homes. The company's ABN dates from 2010. It has a display home and showroom at 67 Morayfield Road, Caboolture South, and others at Emu Plains in Sydney and Bayswater North in Melbourne.
What they make
Fifteen standard designs from two to five bedrooms, about 98 m² and up, plus five narrow-lot plans. These are full-size homes, not granny flats. The bolt-together frame is Australian BlueScope high-tensile steel, with Hardiplank cladding and N3 wind rating as standard.
What the price covers
Every standard design has a published kit price including GST, from $100,820. The kit covers plans, energy rating, frame, roof, cladding, windows, insulation, linings and kitchen, bathroom, electrical and plumbing items, delivered in three stages. Labour, footings, trades, approvals and connections are not included.
Installing one in Queensland
Met-Kit does not build. In Queensland the buyer builds as an owner builder with a QBCC owner builder permit, or hires a QBCC licensed builder, plus licensed plumbers and electricians. The kit includes council plans; the buyer arranges soil test, footings, certifier and connections.
Who it suits
Capable owner builders who want a full-size home as a kit with a published price.
Worth checking
The price is a materials kit, so the finished cost depends on labour and site work. No warranty terms were found on the pages read, and the smallest design is around 98 m².
