Who they are
Ezy Homes designs and supplies steel pole kit homes from Beenleigh, south of Brisbane, and says it has done so since 2000 with more than 1000 homes supplied. Its company, Ezy Homes (Australia) Pty Ltd, holds QBCC licence 1041791 for low-rise building and building design, active on the register.
What they make
22 standard designs from 95 m² to 265 m², plus custom plans, on a hot-dip galvanised structural steel pole frame that is cut and drilled in the factory and bolted together on site. The system is aimed at sloping, elevated and hard-to-reach blocks, and can be engineered for cyclonic wind and bushfire overlays. Cladding is the buyer's choice.
What the price covers
Every standard design has published prices for three kit stages. The smaller designs start at about $67,000 for the Frame Kit, $91,000 for Lock-up and $100,000 for the Full Kit. Transport, footings, earthworks, services, kitchen, tiling, painting, council fees and all labour are extra, and the site does not say whether prices include GST.
Installing one in Queensland
Footings are poured first, then the frame is bolted up by an owner builder, Ezy Homes' optional rigging crew or a builder from its network. Owner builders in Queensland need a QBCC owner-builder permit, and licensed electricians and plumbers must do those trades. A turnkey builder completion option is offered on a fixed-price contract.
Who it suits
Owner builders and buyers with steep or elevated sites who want a priced, engineered steel kit and are ready to manage the build or hire a builder.
Worth checking
The site says both that it no longer builds and that it delivers the whole build on a fixed-price contract. Confirm who signs the building contract and holds the QBCC home warranty insurance, and whether kit prices include GST.
