Who they are
A-Frame Kit Homes Australia is the A-frame range of BRIbuild Pty Ltd, a steel framing company at Lower Plenty in Melbourne, directed by Brian Atkins. It says it has operated since 2017; its ABN dates from April 2019. It supplies kits and is not a builder.
What they make
Steel frame kits for A-frame homes, from the 25 m² Jamieson one-bedroom cabin to the 180 m² three-bedroom Dinner Plain. Frames are BlueScope TRUECORE steel and can be engineered for bushfire ratings up to BAL-FZ and for cyclonic wind. Plans can be resized or customised.
What the price covers
Published frame kit prices run from $35,000 to $145,000, stated as plus GST. The kit covers the steel frame, brackets, fasteners, engineering and permit drawings. Roofing, cladding, windows, doors, linings, kitchen, bathroom, slab, site works and labour are extra, and the site states GST and delivery two different ways.
Installing one in Queensland
The kit is flat-packed and trucked from Victoria. In Queensland you need a QBCC licensed builder, or a QBCC owner-builder permit, to put it up, plus a slab or piers, a building approval and licensed electrical and plumbing trades. BRIbuild supplies drawings and assembly support.
Who it suits
Owner builders, or buyers with their own builder, who want an A-frame shape and an engineered steel frame for a bushfire or cyclone-rated site.
Worth checking
The kit price is a small part of the finished cost. Ask in writing whether the price includes GST and delivery to Queensland, since the site says both.
